EVENT BENEFICIARIES

We are pleased to announce Brisbane Valley Rattlers, Somerset Storm Netball Club, and Thunder Cricket Club as the Event Beneficiaries of the 23rd annual Somerset Rail Trail Classic, with $2 from every paid entry donated the clubs. Runners and riders will also have the opportunity to donate further through the registration process.

Founded in 2016, the Brisbane Valley Rattlers Australian Football Club has grown to become a vibrant hub for AFL within the Somerset Region, based at the Fernvale Sports Park. As the club enters its tenth season in 2026, it continues to strengthen its junior pathways with teams across the Under 8.5s to Under 11.5s age groups, with plans to expand into youth football by launching Under 13.5s Mixed and Under 15s Girls teams. The Rattlers have also experienced early senior success, fielding their first Senior Men’s team in 2022, and aim to further expand by introducing a Women’s team in 2027.
The club’s mission centres on promoting AFL across all ages by fostering participation, community engagement, and a coaching culture built on learning and fair play. Through strong investment in Auskick and Superstars programs, the Rattlers prioritise positive experiences for children, uphold fairness in club operations, and maintain responsible financial practices. Somerset Storm Netball Club (SSNC) was established in 2020 at Fernvale Sports Park, at SSNC, we proudly embrace and embody community values. We provide opportunities for all ages to be active, develop skills, and play in our competitive or social competitions. We are more than a netball club—we are a collective force driven by inclusivity, integrity, and unity. Somerset Storm stands as a testament to our shared commitment: “For the Community, By the Community.”

Thunder Cricket Club was formed in 2015 as a merge of two local clubs, Marburg Cricket Club Est. 1946 and Mount Crosby Cricket Club Est. 2006.

We are a proud family-oriented club welcoming senior and junior players of all ages and abilities from the Somerset and Ipswich communities. Built on the values of community, inclusiveness, and friendship, we aim to create a supportive environment where every player can enjoy the game, develop their skills, and build lasting connections. Our focus is on teamwork, personal growth, and fostering a love of cricket while helping develop well-rounded individuals both on and off the field.
